A beautiful antique Victorian Mizpah pendant consisting of a large rock crystal, cut with dazzling, triangular facets. The stone is fitted with a silver bale and “Mizpah” lettering on top with an interesting, tree-branch design to the letter “M”.
“MIZPAH” is a Hebrew word meaning “Watchtower” and comes from the Old Testament; “The Lord watch between thee and me when we are absent one from another”. It was a popular phrase during the Victorian era and was given as a token of protection and faithfulness.
It’s a highly collectable piece and has remained in pristine condition from the late 19th century.
